Qualifications:
Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate plus one year of professional engineering experience.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
A master''s degree or Ph.D. in engineering will substitute for the one year of required experience.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies:the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Differs from Engineer 3 by the absence of a license to practice professional engineering, the close supervision received, and the size and scope of work assigned (measured by the complexity, diversity and budget of projects and programs).
Differs from Engineer Technicians by responsibility for approving drawings, plans, construction estimates, and payment invoices as well as the ability to perform a broader range of engineering principles.
Examples of Work:
Perform moderately difficult technical work in designing bridges, roads, docks, and other structures, including electrical and mechanical features under direction but not immediate supervision of a professional engineer.
Serve as principal assistant to a Project Engineer.
Perform the more complex engineering reviews of construction jobs in progress and checks for adequacy of supervision given by contractors and architects, materials used, and proper installation and operation of equipment.
Performs moderately complex engineering production tests of oil and gas wells to determine compliance; maintains field surveillance and supervision over production from assigned wells; makes completion and production potential tests.
Perform the more complex investigations of swimming pools and natural boating areas, water supply systems, waste water systems including domestic, agricultural and industrial, sanitary landfills and air pollution monitoring, and abatement devices for compliance with established standards.
Perform the more complex engineering reviews of construction jobs in progress and checks for adequacy of supervision given by contractors and architects, materials used, and proper installation and operation of equipment.
Reviews plans and specifications for conformance with the State Sanitary Code and sound sanitary engineering principles of all new construction or major alterations to all institutions (i.e. schools, hospitals, nursing homes, jails, mortuaries, etc.) and to all swimming pools used by groups of people (whether public or private).
Reviews plans and specifications for all water supply and sewage treatment systems (except private ones) and, under more specific supervision, for facilities connected to the more complex public systems.
Accomplish the engineering review of the quality, quantity, and availability of lighting in school classrooms and related educational facilities.
Assist a professional engineer in an advanced training capacity in the analysis and design of a variety of engineering structures and systems.
Design bridges, roadways, or public works structures, or electrical, mechanical, or traffic systems.
Prepares specifications and cost estimates.
Perform design and data analysis, structural rating evaluations, hydraulic analysis, and capacity analysis.
Reviews and checks plans and specifications submitted by consultant engineers and by district office engineering personnel.
Review submittals for item substitutions during construction process.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
